OK, just so you know, I am not ready for Christmas music to go away yet! I have changed my Playlist back under protest!
So, fireworks are legal in Honolulu on July 4th and New Years Eve. It really began around 10:00 in the evening and built steadily to a crescendo at around 11:30 and then stayed that way until the big blowoff at 12:00. Here are a few minutes right at midnight looking Mauka from my hotel room.

Wow, you had a pretty good show that you were watching! We missed you last night...we were giggling again...what's new right? Happy New Year.
We missed you for new years! Thanks for everything! We had so much fun and we miss everyone already!
Wow I missed the fourth by a couple of days and now New Years oh well what can you do?
that is amazing!! i want to come over there again so bad!
So, nearly all of the fireworks were illegal. Pretty easy to see from what was shown in the video.
Now the City is talking about a ban on all private fireworks so that they don't end up burning down the City. Wasn't a problem for New Years due to all the rain, but it could be on July 4th.
