Lauri goes home tomorrow night, so we didn't have any plans, but just spent the day hanging around together. About 5:30, we decided to go for a walk. Instead of heading down to the beach like we usually do, we went the other way and started by walking down Ala Wai Canal.
There were quite a few Moon Jellies in the canal and lots of baby Tilapia
Whenever we would stop, the larger Tilapia would swim up in large groups looking for a handout. They obviously get fed a lot along here.
We also saw several baby Barracuda like this one hanging around looking for an easy meal.
We weren't in any hurry and had no place really in mind to go, but were just out for a stroll together. When we got to McCully, we left the canal and headed over to Ft. DeRussy.
Even though it is at the end of the season for the Shower Trees, they are still really pretty this year. They have been more gorgeous and long-lasting this year than last by far. I don't know what is different, but they are just spectacular this year!
Of course, we took photos of other flowering trees as well. The Plumeria were also gorgeous this Spring, but they are starting to dry up now.
These two photos really don't do this Shower Tree justice. It is covered in blooms even this late in the season and is so pretty.
The Coral Trees are pretty too!
Looking toward the beach from the park in Ft. DeRussy. With all the crowds of people that are just down the street a few blocks in the main part of Waikiki, it is hard to imagine that this quieter place is so close.
Sunset found us down on Waikiki just a couple of blocks from our hotel. With the big cloud bank on the horizon, I didn't expect much from the sunset, but it turned out pretty well in the end.
What a great way to spend the afternoon and evening!
